The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame partners with Axiell for management of their archive, museum and library collection

Axiell provides the holistic solution needed for the Rock Hall to continue to tell the full story of rock and roll through their rich and diverse collections

Manchester, UK, 17 May 2018 – Axiell, the leading vendor globally of collections management software today announces that its Adlib software has been selected by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to integrate and manage its archives, library and museum collections data. Bringing these separate collections together will help the Hall of Fame make their collection more accessible to music fans around the world and help staff work in a more efficient way.

From Bo Diddly’s guitar, to Jimi Hendrix’s handwritten “Purple Haze” lyrics, to Green Day’s drumheads (and everything in between), the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame houses one of the world’s largest collections of items related to the history of rock and roll. It reaches millions each year through its televised induction ceremonies and world-renowned museum. The museum, which welcomes half a million annual visitors, boasts a collection of more than 25,000 three-dimensional artifacts, whilst the archival collection spans over 4000 linear feet. The archives, library and museum are all located in Cleveland, Ohio.

Axiell’s Adlib collections management system promises to revolutionize the way the Hall of Fame’s staff work. For the first time, staff will be able to search and create workflows across collection types, massively improving efficiency and removing the need for data duplication.

“The ability for staff members to access all of our collections in one user-friendly system will be a game-changer for our entire organization. It will likely save us hundreds of hours of staff time annually – in all divisions – once materials have been ingested and described,” says Heidi Quicksilver, Interim Vice President of Technology at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

With Adlib, users can link records in the database to digital assets including images, documents and audio-visual files, making it considerably easier to create highly engaging multi-media exhibitions. Axiell Internet Server will help the organization extend these collections to the web, by making data available online. Music fans and researchers will be able to search the catalogue online in a much more user friendly way.

Ben Sullivan, Managing Director Axiell ALM, comments: “This project perfectly underlines the unique ability Axiell has to manage diverse collections and help institutions drive efficiency in the management of the resources and assets they have. We are also excited to welcome not only a world-renowned institution to the Axiell user community, but also their expert staff. The mass of knowledge they bring with them is sure to benefit our community of users.”
